Here at JCI, we've never been shy about our opinions. And after our beloved LA Times released a Halloween candy ranking that disastrously ignored the variety of Reese's varieties out there (you can't compare a classic full-size peanut butter cup to Reese's pieces, the vibes are completely different), we knew it was up to us to fix it.
But we didn't stop there! Read on for our definitive* rankings of the best Halloween candies, movies, and past costumes!
*Not actually definitive but whatever.
Favorite Halloween Candy: Reese’s, it's hands-down the best candy year-round.
Favorite Halloween Movie: Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride, because who doesn’t love a Tim Burton movie? But also have you SEEN the animation?
Favorite Halloween Costume: Derek Shepard (a.k.a. McDreamy) from Greys Anatomy...my roommate dressed up as Mark Sloan (McSteamy).
Favorite Halloween Candy: Nerds. You are what you eat!
Favorite Halloween Movie: Henry Selick's Nightmare Before Christmas!
Favorite Halloween Costume: Wednesday Addams...but I don’t have photos from that year. So a cheerleader!
Favorite Halloween Candy: Reese’s Pumpkins, because the chocolate-to-peanut-butter ratio is *chef’s kiss*
Favorite Halloween Movie: Kenny Ortega's Hocus Pocus, and I can't believe anyone anywhere would ever answer any different.
Favorite Halloween Costume: Marty McFly from Back to the Future.
Favorite Halloween Candy: Snickers. Any variety, but king-size preferred.
Favorite Halloween Movie: Henry Selick's Nightmare Before Christmas. C'mon.
Favorite Halloween Costume: Troy Bolton. That's Zac Efron’s character from High School Musical, for the uninitiated. I was very popular in West Hollywood that night.
Favorite Halloween Candy: Anything chocolate with a spooky wrapper. Presentation is key.
Favorite Halloween Movie: Sean McNamara's Casper Meets Wendy, which (trivia time) was Hillary Duff's first major film!
Favorite Halloween Costume: Halloween tends to sneak up on me, but my cat ears and eyeliner always come in handy.
Favorite Halloween Candy: Full-size Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. Anything else is cowardice.
Favorite Halloween Movie: Tim Burton's Edward Scissorhands.
Favorite Halloween Costume: My mother made me a hand-sewn Cleopatra costume when I was 8 years old, full stop, and my brother went as Marc Anthony. The best costume I ever made was an itsy-bitsy spider for my daughter.
Favorite Halloween Candy: Twix. Always 'twas, always 'twill be.
Favorite Halloween Movie: Wes Craven's Scream. It's a classic for a reason.
Favorite Halloween Costume: Karate Kid. Whatever excuse I can use to wear my gi in public. Ultimate comfort.
Favorite Halloween Candy: Almond Joy. Yes, this did cause an uproar in our offices, but I stand by it.
Favorite Halloween Movie: Jim Sharman's The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Favorite Halloween Costume: Gumby.
Favorite Halloween Candy: Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, but mini.
Favorite Halloween Movie: Probably a tie between Tim Burton's Beetlejuice and William Friedkin's The Exorcist. I like to laugh, but I also like to get the heebies and the jeebies.
Favorite Halloween Costume: I was RBG for Halloween last year and now I'm emotional about it.
