Laura Zahn Rosenthal, PhD. works for DDC Public Affairs on the Client Relations team, concentrating on a statewide energy efficiency campaign for the State of California. A long time consultant, she specializes in political advocacy, grassroots community engagement, government relations and policy development. Laura has worked on various campaigns and advocacy movements throughout California. She is currently a Public Relations consultant with the RWJones Company working on water conservation efforts and with the Malibu Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to wildfire recovery and climate change advocacy. Laura is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with a long-time private practice, as well as clinical trial work, consultation, mentoring and dual diagnosis rehabilitation.
Laura is a former Malibu City Councilmember and two term Mayor. As an elected official, she was a LA County Library Commissioner, Chair of the League of CA Cities Environmental Quality Policy Committee, a member of many local, regional and statewide organizations. Her passions center on outreach and education to inform and motivate behavior around key lifestyle issues, the environment, social justice, women’s issues and politics. Laura integrates her political, psychological and advocacy backgrounds into her community building and engagement work.
A graduate of the University of Massachusetts (BA) and the University of Southern California (PhD), Laura has been a board member of various educational non-profits and is currently a board member on the LA County Library Foundation and involved with many political advocacy organizations.
