2026 Clean Energy Affordability Summit
High utility bills are hitting Californians hard, and the current system just isn't cutting it. We need a real plan to make clean energy affordable, reliable, and available to everyone across the Golden State.
In April, Deploy Action took this challenge head-on in Sacramento at the inaugural 2026 Clean Energy Affordability Summit alongside co-hosts California Forward and the UC Davis Energy and Efficiency Institute. It was a day of robust, unfiltered discussion between legislators, advocates, and industry leaders on solutions to bring down costs and deploy clean energy at scale in California.

Capitol Weekly Placement
JCI placed "Pharmaceutical Drug Costs Are a Workers' Rights Issue" in Capitol Weekly, authored by Al Austin, a prominent leader in labor advocacy and state and local government. His extensive experience includes three terms on the Long Beach City Council, and he currently serves as Legislative Director of AFSCME Council 57 (Santa Clara County) and on the Long Beach Utilities Commission Board, where he has focused on policies that support working-class communities.

Energy Upgrade California
We're excited to be celebrating six years of statewide work on energy affordability with Energy Upgrade California! This year, we distributed grants to 16 community groups, 12 of which are returning grantees to the program.
Grants to these organizations enable them to educate their communities on Flex Alerts, a voluntary call for Californians to reduce electricity usage when the energy grid is strained, protecting vulnerable communities during heatwaves.
Community organizations continue to serve as the backbone of authentic, ground-level outreach to the state's most critical populations.

LA County Democratic Party
JCI partners with the Los Angeles County Democratic Party (LACDP) to advance strategic communications, public engagement, and civic participation across Los Angeles County. Our team supports the development of multimedia campaigns, that inform and engage voters on key issues, voting resources, and opportunities to participate in the democratic process.
In addition to communications strategy, JCI provides event planning and execution support for major public events, including the June 2 Election Night Watch Party hosted with Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass. Through integrated communications, media relations, and community engagement, JCI helps amplify the LACDP's mission of expanding voter participation and strengthening grassroots organizing.
